Elinor Proett Hopkins, LCSW has worked as a psychotherapist for the past 30 years. She specializes in treating anxiety and depression and is very skilled at helping clients to see their problems in a new way, often formulating unique approaches to a client's personal evolution. Elinor is certified as a clinical hypnotherapist, and often uses trance techniques for the resolution of anxiety, addiction, and creative blocks. Her main interest is finding effective ways by which individuals can improve the quality of life without having to resort to prolonged therapy or arduous (and often expensive) practices.
Hypnotherapy and alternative techniques are often used in conjunction with cognitive or insight-oriented therapy to rapidly reduce symptoms of anxiety and emotional imbalances. Addictions and other dysfunctional patterns of thought, emotion and behavior can take on "a life of their own," because they are maintained by the disruptive struggle between the will and emotions.
Hypnotherapy is a tool that can very effectively get to the root of the problem, slipping beneath a person's usual pattern of thoughts and emotional reactions. In a neutral and relaxed state of consciousness, a rebalancing of the nervous system takes place easily, unencumbered by self-defeating complexes.
